Driving or Dropping Off

Address: 143 Avenue de Vincennes Pointe-Claire, QC H9R 4M5

The property is located at the end of Vincennes’ Cul-De-Sac (dead end street). It is the Second to Last house on the right.

NOTE: Google Maps Street View has a dated collection of photos of the property.

Transportation

Bus, Metro, Train

The route mapping Application recomneded by Transport Quebec is call “Chrono”. It is updated frequently with times and you are able to plan a route ahead of time before you leave.

Uber & Taxi

Since the Studio is located near the YUL airport, there is always a Uber presence around. It is roughly 22$ one way and you can book ahead online

Parking

There is one available spot to park in the drive way, but during the dates between April 15th to November 15, street parking is free and overnight.

Path to Follow

The Studio is located at the back of the property so you must walk up the driveway and then follow the cedar mulch path on the right hand side of the house which loops to the studio door entrance.

Note on Lighting: The path on the side of the house has a row of garden solar lights. There is a secondary timed flood light located in the rear of the property. This light will be on between the hours 17h-2h, 5h-9h. Even if no lights are on, there is still some dim light coming from the street.

Entering

CAUTION: ONE LARGE STEP DOWN ONCE YOU HAVE OPENED THE BNB DOOR. WATCH YOUR STEP!

Getting in with Smart Lock

Once you are on the deck you will see that there is a digital black deadbolt lock located on the door. The combination code will be provided to you through Airbnb messenger. It will normally be the last 4 digits of the phone number that you have provided me for booking. If there is no phone number, then you will receive a message with the 4 digit code. 

Go to the dead bolt and input the 4 digit code. After that, you must press the bottom button that has the Ultraloq symbol. It will unlock automatically and you will be able to enter the studio.

When inside, simply turn the deadbolt latch. Do not use the lock on the handle because I have not provided you the key. When leaving, just press the Ultraloq button and it will lock.

Trouble Shooting

Option 1: Send me a message though AirBnb and I will troubleshoot with you. If you need wifi to complete this step, you will have to access the WIFI from outside the BnB

Option 2: Walk to the front door and ring the doorbell, if I am home I will come out and troubleshoot with you.

WIFI Connection

Connection will reach outside the entrance door onto the deck. The top speeds are: 100 mbps 5 Ghz down & 50 mbps 5Ghz up. It is Wifi only, no direct connection.

Bathroom

General

Before running the shower, please press the 60 minute fan button so that the humidity evacuates the room. You can press it again once you leave the bathroom.

The Bathroom will be stocked with 2 bath, 2 hand, and 2 face towels and a hair dryer.

There is complimentary Hand Soap, Shampoo, Conditioner and Bodywash that is intended to be used. Here is the list of ingredients of each product:

• Hand Soap: Water (aqua), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamide Polyquaternium-7, Fragrance/Perfume, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Mathylisothiazolinone, Glycol Distearate, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Citric Acid
• Shampoo: Aqua, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Cocamide DEA, Sodium Chloride, Glycerin, Citric Acid, Parfum,Propylene Glycol,Diazolidi, Disodium EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Iodopropynyl Vutylcarbamate

Shower

The shower has a rain head and a wand. You can only choose one or the other.

When using the shower, please press the 60 minute fan button before you enter the shower and when you exit the shower. 

There is good water pressure but there is a possibility that you will begin to run out of hot water. The hot water is a shared tank so there is the potential for it to empty with frequent use. 

You can use the lower shower niche as a ledge to rest your foot to shave your legs. Other niches will not take full body weight though some can be applied

Water is not draining? Do not let it go over the threshold and contact me right away.

Heated Floors

The heated floors are on a locked set timer, do not touch the heated floor terminal.

Mirror & Lighting

The mirror is a back lit LED mirror. To turn on and off, press the circular symbol that is on the top left face of the mirror. The main lighting is on a dimmable switch. Just slide the bottom bar on the switch located beside the fan timer.

Bed / Sleeping Arrangements

General

• There are 2 eight inch thick twin size gel cooling memory foam mattresses that have protectors for dust mites, bedbugs and waterproofing.
• All pillows have the same protection and the sleeping pillows are queen size gel cooling memory foam.
• Each mattress has a fitted sheet, sheet and a duvet. If the bed is set up as a single, the second duvet is located in one of the drawers.
• When sleeping, the throw pillows can be placed within the lower drawers for safe storage.
• Please do not place any liquids on the bed frame. The chance of spilling is substantial.

Temperature Adjustments

Window: The window can be opened by first unlocking the two clasps and then sliding the window open. NOTE: When closing the window, the lock should be re-engaged to provide security and noise cancellation

Kitchenette and Accessories

General

The kitchenette will support basic cooking functions. There is no running water by the kitchenette. Water can be taken from the sink or the shower. Cleaning of the dishes can be completed by Steve at the end or during the stay if required. Cleaning can be carefully done in the bathroom sink if possible. Shower will not be used to clean dishes due to the possible staining of the stones.

Items in Kitchenette: Coffee maker, Microwave, Toaster, Mini Fridge, Induction stove top, Pot, Pan, Dishes, Glasses, Cutlery, Basic kitchen and cleaning supplies.

How it Works

When using any of the devices that take electrical power, plug it into the receptacle that has the check mark beside it. You cannot use any other receptacles for appliance power. The proper receptacle is different from the others. You will have a limit of 2 electrical kitchen devices that can be used at once.

For each of these devices, there is only one receptacle that will work 2 devices at a time. Use the plug with the check mark above it or else you will pop an arc fault breaker.

• Coffee Maker: Insert coffee mug or travel mug (removing the bottom panel). Press the power button to turn on. Lift and insert the coffee pod. Close the lid. Press the big silver button that has the “K” symbol on it to start. It will take roughly 50 seconds for the machine to make coffee. Once running, water will be taken from the tank in the back so you must make sure it is filled properly with water. Have an extra mug with water beside it in case you need to add more. You can normally tell it is empty by a loud humming/suctioning noise. Once your mug is 85% doneyou must press the power button again  to shut it off. There is always some coffee in the pod that still needs to drain. With another cup, fill up the amount you used from the coffee machine, but do not go over the max or it will spill out the top and bottom.
  • Remove the used coffee pod and leave the lid open when done.
  • Note: I have had an instance where the coffee did not heat up properly. Please try again, or use the microwave to heat it up. 
• Microwave: Press to open the door and insert food or liquid inside. Place a paper towel and plastic microwave cover over the item. Close the door. Select the time and press start. There are advanced methods, but I am not here to explain a microwave manual 🙂
• Induction Stovetop: Take stove top from on top of the minifridge and plug it into the proper receptacle. Grab your pot and pan and place it on the surface. Press start  and select heat setting and that should be it. Search it online for more details
• Toaster: Remove from shelf and plug it into the proper receptacle. Insert item and push level down to start.

Lighting

LED Multicolot Lighting

There is a small colorful remote that turns on the LED lights. It is normally located in the corner of the room under the plants. It has many different functions so you can play around with.  (There are a few settings that can pick up the noises in the room and change the colors based on the beat). Please shut off when not in use and when going to bed.

Reading Nook Lighting

If you are looking for a warm light that is not intrusive, pull the light chain that is located beside the bathroom door. Sit down with your book and relax.

Exterior Lighting

There is an exterior spot light that is set by a timer inside. Please do not touch.

TV – Projector

General

This system uses a Chromecast which allows you to connect to the smart projector via wifi. This means that you are connecting to your streaming services on your device and then sending the video to be viewed through the projector. This BnB is not providing streaming accounts.

Rules

There are a few rules that need to be followed.

1. Do not remove any of the objects or wires inside of the cabinet, except if told too.
2. Once you are finished with using the projector, please shut it off by closing the cabinet.
   • Pull down on the cabinet door and completely close it. This shuts off the system.  
3. Be respectful of the devices that are being used. 

How it Works

I have tried to make it as simple as possible but there are a few steps that are needed to follow.

Powering Up

1. Open the cabinet fully above the bed.
   • It will lock in place and you will be able to remove your hand. 
   • There is a normally automatic switch that allows the systems to be able to turn on.
2. To the left of the Projector there is a black silver box. That is the mini amp which allows the speakers to work. Make Sure the red light is turn on. If not, turn the volume clockwise to power it on.
3. If you hear music or talking without the proector on, the mini amp is set to radio, please press the “mode” button to switch the audio to projector.
4. There is a small back remote beside the projector, please remove it and press the red button to turn the projector on. The system is on if you see:
   • A red light on the mini amp 
   • The projector emitting light

Troubleshooting

• Projector not on?
  • 1. You may slowly pull the projector out and you will see that on the underside there are buttons. Press the power button to turn on and put it back. 
• No sound?
  • 1. There should be a red light on the mini amp (silver device to the left of the projector). If there is not, simply rotate the volume knob clockwise to power it on.
  • 2. The volume on the projector is set to mute or is set to zero. Try using the small black remote to unmute or turn the volume up. The remote is located in the cabinet and can be removed but placed back when done.
  • 3. One speaker working. There is disconncet in the wires in the back. Please notifiy me.
• If there is any other problem
  • 1. Contact me.

Connecting to the Google Chrome Caste

If you are new to chrome cast that is no problem. Google ChromeCast is designed to make anything a smart screen. It allows you to select your streaming platform (Prime, Youtube, Netflix, Disney..) on your device and then connect it to a larger screen.

1. First you must, be connected to the Wifi and log in to your streaming platform. 
2. Press on the icon that looks something like this 
3. Connect to the device that is called “BnBStudio TV”  
4. Once connected, you will be able to select your show or press play and it will display through the projector.

Troubleshooting

• Cannot connect
  • Make sure you are connected to the wifi and data is turned off
  • Try using your other device (cell phone) to stream to Chromecast.
  • Go on to Youtube and start playing a video then complete step 2. 
  • To change the app you are streaming, you must first disconnect from the app that is already playing and then connect to the Chromecast.

Shutting Down

To shut down the system, all you have to do is close the cabinet door completely shut. There is a button that is pressed when the cabinet door is closed completely that cuts the power to the projector and the speakers. Please make sure that when you are done using the projector that it is powered off by closing the cabinet.

Troubleshooting

• Still stays powered on when the cabinet is fully closed?
  • There is a small possibility that when the cabinet door closes, it does not shut off the projector. If that is the case, please use the small black remote and press the off button twice to shut off the projector. The remote is located in the cabinet and can be removed but placed back when done.

Tables

Outdoor Sitting: You have access to an outdoor table and chairs if you are interested in eating outside.

Checking out

Here is a few things that can help with time and confusion when closing

• Towels and sheets can be left where they were, there is no need to put them in a pile.
• If the bed is set up like a queen, you do not need to close up the bed
• Dirty kitchen objects should be left in a visible location and not placed back into a drawer. That even includes the bread knife you dusted off with your shirt. 
• Make sure that you have left no belongings. 

When checking out, please leave by the time that has been provided by the Airbnb platform unless we have made other arrangements. Lock the door when you leave and if you could, send me a message to let me know. That is it! Go continue on your journey of life! 

Public Transportation

Buses

here are 4 – 6 bus routes (depending on time of day) that are a 5 minute walk from the house. If you do not have a prepaid ticket you need to bring an exact amount change of $3.75 CAD to board the bus. You will receive a ticket that can be used on any other public transport for free for up to 2 hours.

Train

Gare Pointe Claire is where you can take the train in or away from downtown. They are on a schedule so please make sure you look beforehand. You need to purchase the ticket at a booth before you board the train or you will be fined.

Walking Paths and Parks

Pointe-Claire has many parks that can be accessed up until 10pm. I will list some nice parks but feel free to walk around the area and explore.

• Valoia Park: A pool, splash pad, jungle gym, soccer field, baseball field, basketball and tennis courts are all of the things you can find there.

Food, Drink & Entertainment

Located at the front entrance of the room is a bunch of take out menus of different places for you to eat at. If you are looking to buy alcohol the Couche-Tard sells alcohol up until 23h (11pm). If you are looking for a place to drink with live entertainment, Kelly’s Orchard located in the village stays open till 2h (2am) most days.
